SUPHANBURI – In an urgent update from the government flood-control organization, it was announced that former PM and current head of the Chartthaipattana Party Barnharn Silpa-arche was at “high risk of flooding” because of his low elevation.
All areas of central Thailand below 1.6 meters are considered in immediate danger from encroaching runoff from the north, coupled with existing floodwater on the ground. At 1.55 meters, Barnharn has been tagged for immediate evacuation to higher ground.
A spokesperson for Chartthaipattana said that the veteran politician was aware of the danger and that he would find his own way to stay above floodwaters, including the possible use of a small stepladder or sitting on the shoulders of one of his secretaries.
