BANGKOK — Having achieved its mission of passing draconian laws before the December election, the National Legislative Assembly has announced that it is now available to serve the general public – for a price.
At a press conference today, NLA Chairman Meechai Ruchupan announced that the 242 unelected members of the military-junta appointed NLA are now ready to “entertain the people of Thailand ” with “endless fun and breathtaking feats.”
“As a gesture of national unity, we urge the people of Thailand to use us at your child’s next birthday party,” added Borwornsak Uwanno, a former aide to deposed Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
According to the press release accompanied by an attractive 4-color brochure, services include a magic show performed by Prime Minister Suyarud Chulanont, a mock-protest skit by former PAD members Prasong Soonsiri, Chamlong Srimuang, and Surapol Nitikraipoj, and a full-quorum musical version of the debate over the Alcohol Control Bill.
For more extravagant spenders willing to part with ฿50,000, NLA members General Panthep Phuwanartnurak, General Pairoj Panitsamai, General Oud Buangbon, Admiral Prajet Siridej, and Admiral Prasert Boonsong will re-enact the 1976 slaughter of unarmed Thammasat students by paramilitary forces.
