YANNAWA — Management at Cosmo Bowl in Central Rama III mall made the official complaint at Yannawa police station yesterday, requesting an investigation into California Wow Fitness center which shares an adjacent retail space.
According to the written complaint, the “obnoxious and sorely dated techno” music from California Wow is overpowering Cosmo’s bowling lanes, drowning out the sound of bowling balls striking pins at high speed as well as the pop soundtrack on Cosmo’s 2000-watt stereo system.
Additionally, Cosmo’s karaoke patrons have complained that California Wow’s music has penetrated the soundproof walls and made it impossible to enjoy drunken, off-key renditions of Thai love songs.
Cosmo is asking the police to enforce “basic human rights” and “common decency” in forcing California Wow to lower its music levels to something tolerable to the human ear, specifically in the 8-120 decibel range.
A spokesperson for California Wow said that they intend to fight the complaint, and reminded reporters that it is California Wow’s stated policy to violate all possible human rights and decency, as well as any principles of taste, restraint, and humanity.
