BANGKOK — Businesses are obsessed with doing everything they can to make a profit, said Bhichit Wanaisukul, a political scientist at Chulalongkorn University.
Speaking to the annual Thai Studies Conference at Thammasat University, the renowned academic said that businesses would do everything they can to earn more money than they spend.
“These corporations basically exist to make a profit,” he said. “They do not care about anything else.”
Moreover, he said, capitalists wanted to use free markets as a driving force for economic growth. This has made many people miserable, as they need to work every day.
