EC Disbands Sukhumvit Party; Revelers Face Five-Year Ban

Drunken, high man claims he shouted ‘Taxi!’ from balcony, not ‘Thaksin!’

BANGKOK – The Election Commission disbanded a rowdy party on the 15th floor of a Sukhumvit condominium last night after an EC member overheard “an inappropriate usage of the former prime minister’s name.”

“The party was in clear violation of election laws, so it was disbanded immediately,” an EC spokesman said.

John McKlinton, a resident of the condo on Sukhumvit soi 11, was shocked when the EC and nine Constitutional Court judges stormed his 34th birthday party. According to McKlinton, the chairman of the EC looked him directly in the eye and shouted: “The party’s over, Thaksin-boy!”

As dozens of drunken revelers left the premises, the judges banned McKlinton and five friends who helped purchase the booze from hosting or attending another party for five years.

McKlinton insists that it was all a misunderstanding.

“I was looking out into the road and my friend was standing in the middle of it,” he explained.

“So I quickly shouted ‘Taxi! Taxi!’ because I saw one coming down the street straight for him. I guess they thought I said ‘Thaksin! Thaksin!’”

Stating that they were always right, the judges refused McKlinton’s explanations and then dared McKlinton to protest the decision so they could throw him jail for 20 years for contempt of court.

“C’mon buddy, just say it,” said one judge, drooling out the side of his mouth. “I know you want to insult us! I know you want to say our judgment was political! C’mon McKlinton, make my day!”

McKlinton says he almost took the bait, but fortunately passed out due to the large dose of heroin he had injected into himself just prior to the raid.
