According to national police chief Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittiprapas, 17,848 CCTV cameras have been installed in Bangkok, with another 5,000 cameras installed across Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani and Samut Prakan. The cameras were ostensibly for security purposes related to the 2022 APEC Summit, but will remain after the regional conference ends.
