HUA HIN – His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who has overseen more than 200 cabinet changes through 25 different prime ministers since he assumed the throne, has said that he would like the constitution amended so that he can swear in future cabinet members from the comfort of the royal resort of Hua Hin, the king’s seaside home.

“It would be a more productive use of my time if I did not have to travel to Bangkok for this ceremony every few months. I could do it just easily from home,” he said.

The desire was conveyed via His Majesty’s Principal Private Secretary Asa Sarasin.

Sarasin added, “His Majesty also thinks it will be good for both sides. The politicians will not have to feel guilty for taking in person an oath they know they will ignore, and His Majesty will be able to save on gas.”
