McCain Promises Reagan-like Era of Dementia, Debt

MISSOURI, USA In a concerted appeal to the right wing of his party, US presidential candidate John McCain invoked the name of Ronald Reagan in his latest stump speech. Speaking to an enthusiastic crowd of about 400 at the Elks Club in Elton, Missouri, McCain promised a revival of the senility and deficits that characterized the Reagan Administration, which is held in high esteem by the Republican party. “Ronald Reagan showed us an America we could all be proud of,” the Arizona senator said. “An America defined by a neurotic focus on showboating, reductionist foreign policy and complete disregard for out-of-control deficit spending. As a 72-year old man with no economic experience, I plan to revive that great tradition.” McCain called for tripling the budgets of the Defense and Homeland Security Departments, removing judicial oversight on anything that “fights terror,” and a side order of pancakes with maple syrup.
