BANGKOK – A permanent black wreath will be constructed at the foot of Democracy Monument in order to save future generations from the trouble of laying them, the Culture Ministry announced today.
“It has become a tradition by some students and activists to lay a wreath at the foot of Democracy Monument. The act is a symbolic gesture to mourn the ‘death of democracy’ in the country. We felt that by permanently installing a wreath we would save people time and effort,” said ministry spokesman Ying Ritrikul.
