BANGKOK – Leading real estate developer Raimon Land has announced it is building Bangkok’s first high-end condominium catering exclusively to the foreign criminal.
Units in the 20-billion baht development called ‘The Haven’ will feature “iron doors, untraceable Wi-Fi, and an exit in the bathroom that leads to a fire escape.”
Every tenant will be able to receive all meals in the room, if desired, including a continental breakfast that includes the newspaper from his home country so he can track reports of his alleged whereabouts.
The developer says it has already sold more than 75 percent of the units: 40 percent to the city’s regular client base of money launderers, 20 percent to people using stolen identities, and 15 percent under duress.
“Small developers have been tapping into this market for decades,” said Raimon Land Director of Communications Henri Young, “but they targeted a lower class of criminal such as the pedophile or on-the-lam murderer, who did not have access to money. With The Haven, we are targeting the high-end criminal such as the arms dealer who is increasingly choosing Bangkok as his home-away-from-home.”
Young added that “while Pattaya may seem like the logical location for this property, we believe that the criminal class will be swayed by The Haven’s convenient location next to the soon-to-be-opened airport rail link, which reduces the getaway to Suvarnbhumi to only 17 minutes.”
Raimon Land is currently running an intensive advertising campaign in the Middle East and Russia.
