BANGKOK – Thai women who have married Western men for money are now divorcing their husbands in record numbers, Not The Nation has learned.
At least one Thai wife in Nakhorn Ratchasima divorced her farang husband because he was not attentive and tried to impose his culture on her, according to an NTN reporter based in Bangkok who heard the story over drinks one night with a friend, also from Bangkok, who has distant relatives in Isan who relayed the story over recent New Year’s Eve festivities.
It is believed that many other Thai wives are also divorcing their husbands, although no statistics could be obtained.
