Toy Store Sales Staff Makes Final Push To Break Records

2007 holiday season already being hailed as best-ever for Central Chitlom's toy department

BANGKOK Employees of Central Chitlom’s toy section have broken Christmas and New Year sales-team records in multiple games, including Miss Pacman, Mario Party 8, and the time it takes to drive a remote control car around the store.

The staff has been working overtime this past week in a bid to best scores and feats recorded by previous employees during the holiday season. By accepting double shifts, covering for each other and completely neglecting customers and cash registers, the highly motivated team has dedicated more than 95% of each working day to smashing the records.

Aud Waroonrat managed to drive the Kyosho Lazer ZX5 remote control dune buggie in a complete loop from register 1 in 29.23 seconds. He was timed by a colleague using the new Formula 1 Lewis Hamilton McClaren Kid’s Stopwatch.

Aud said an elderly customer who obstructed his path with her walker cost him “at least three seconds as I had to stop briefly, reverse and then gun it through her feet.”

Tor Vittitewij has spent the last few days repeatedly topping his high score in Miss Pacman. Colleagues described Tor as “completely in the zone,” but also “extremely irritable” due to his complete obsession with the colored ghosts, pac dots, and power pellets.

Tor, who currently holds first through seventh place on the All-Time High Scores list under the name “Mister T”, said, “The pause function on the game times out after three minutes. Once I lost a high score because this stupid woman couldn’t make up her mind and the other day I missed a pair of cherries and ran into a ghost after this little kid tugged at my arm. I need to make sure no one who ever works here again will ever beat my record.”

The other stand-out of this holiday season has been Wit Sakoonachart, who has learned seven new yo-yo tricks, including The Man on The Flying Trapeze, the first time that feat has been accomplished by a Central Chit Lom employee.
