BANGKOK — After winning just a handful of votes in the December 23 election, Makarin Osworopongse of the little known Khao Mun Gai party announced that he was leaving politics for good.
“I just want to tell PPP, the coup group, the Democrats, the other parties, the taxi drivers, the motorcycle men, the office workers, the factory workers, and everyone else who was unaware of my candidacy that I will not be contesting any future elections,” he said near his khao mun gai stand off Rama IX road.
He made the announcement just as an NTN reporter sat down for lunch. No other reporters were present, making this one an exclusive.
Makarin had faced an Election Commission query after one of his regular customers admitted receiving a five baht discount on lunch one day in return for a vote.
