BANGKOK – General Prem Tinsunalonda will cast his 10 million votes on Monday, one day after the general election, said Election Commission Chairman Apichart Sukkhakhanon.
As the country’s elder statesman and role model to all Thai people, Prem would be allowed to vote in any constituency he wanted. The revelation was likely to make the final results unclear “until Prem had voted,” Apichart said.
The EC chairman explained that the Privy Council Chairman and leader of Thai-style democracy had accumulated so much merit in the last year he is now worth 10 million votes.
Outside his Thewes residence, General Prem told reporters that, unless he had to, he would not cast all of his 10 millions ballots, “out of respect for democracy.”
