BANGKOK REMAND PRISON – Making the best of a bad situation, Australian author Harry Nicolaides has made several profitable trades with the roasted chickens supplied to him by his family during his incarceration, according to prison sources.
Having befriended Victor Bout, the so-called “Lord of War” being held for arms trafficking while awaiting possible extradition to the US or Russia, Nicolaides has allegedly acquired a shipment of 420 slightly-used Kalashnikov assault rifles and a dozen RPG-7 rocket-propelled grenade launchers in exchange for a thigh and drumstick.
The weapons, which are rumored to be stored in an undisclosed warehouse in Kazakhstan, will be delivered at night by a low-flying Cessna to a locale of Nicolaides’s choice.
According to his lawyer, Nicolaides had no actual interest in acquiring the weapons, but was merely trying to be friendly to a fellow foreign prisoner.
“Harry just thought Victor looked hungry,” claimed the lawyer. “He’s a man of peace.”
Bout’s lawyer denied any suggestions of wrongdoing, insisting that his client was innocent.
“Any machine guns or grenade launchers that may eventually materialize in locations that may have been mentioned in passing by my client in random conversation is pure coincidence,” he said.
