BANGKOK – A local man discovered an original draft of the 1946 constitution while browsing through used magazines at Chatuckak Weekend Market on Sunday.

Kurkit Santisak found the charter between pages 123 and 124 of the April issue of Lips magazine. After inspecting the weathered pages, Kukrit turned the constitution over to the shop owner and then continued reading the magazine, which he purchased for 20 baht.

The shopkeeper later sold the 1946 draft to a local collector for 40 baht.

The collector, who refused to be identified, said he now owned 15 original versions of the 16 constitutions.

“For me, it is just a hobby,” he said. “Everyone knows they are pretty much worthless.”

“The other day I accidentally wrote a phone number on one,” he laughed.

The 1946 Charter is as worthless now as it was when it was signed
