BANGKOK – The release of Major Cineplex’s new video of the king’s anthem, played prior to the beginning of each feature film in its cinemas, was delayed by a week in order to edit in some Muslims, according to Winomrat Ameetir, the film’s editor.
“We had the final cut, sound-mixed and everything, and suddenly I get a phone call telling me to add some Muslims,” Winomrat recalls.
With no actual Muslim actors available, the production team “just got some Buddhists to wear hajibs and those funny hats, and wave some Thai flags.”
Winomrat added that he hoped no one noticed they were the same actors from the rice field scene.
