BANGKOK — Just before the Supreme Court verdict on seizure of assets belonging to her ex-husband Thaksin Shinawatra, Khunying Pojaman Shinawatra told reporters today that all of her personal assets were the wages of her youngest daughter Paethongtan’s four-month stint working at McDonald’s in 2005.
“Paethongtan worked very hard and saved all her earnings, and then gave them to me,” explained Pojamon. “At first I told her to keep it but she insisted she wanted to help me take care of the family. She is a very devoted daughter.”
According to court documents Pojaman’s net worth after her separation from Thaksin is about ฿34 billion. At current McDonald’s hourly wages it would require 156 years to earn that amount. Presented with these figures, Pojamon credited Paethongtan with having worked “lots of overtime.”
