Rich Kid Going Too Far With Ski Rack

BANGKOK — Friends and co-workers of Wittaya “Dirk” Poovavorn have reported that the 26-year old recent MBA graduate and son of a shipping magnate has gone too far with his latest ostentatious show of wealth. The installation of a custom-made, imported Thule 5401 Snowcat roof-mounted ski rack on top of his Porsche Cayenne was deemed “ridiculous” by his friends, including former college roommate Mike Pattanapan. “I could understand getting the Cayenne, even though Dirk’s never been offroad at all and won’t even drive in the rain. But a ski rack in Thailand? Come on.” The sentiment was echoed by Dirk’s sister Pop, who rolled her eyes at the mention of the ski rack. “He’s been like skiing only ONCE. And he’s crap at it. But he just wants everyone to think he’s some extreme-sport stud.” Dirk defended the purchase, citing his ownership of a pair of ฿53,000 Atomic Big Daddy powder skis, which he used for the first time on a recent trip to Breckinridge, Colorado. When questioned when he intended to use his skis somewhere to which he could actually drive, Dirk mumbled something about the Himalayas, but declined to provide details.
