DUBAI – On the run from the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) after a request by the Royal Thai Police to aid in his arrest, fugitive ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra is believed to have executed a bold escape from his hideaway in the United Arab Emirates by camel.
Fleeing his luxury Dubai condominium in the dead of night, Thaksin was reportedly seen on security camera trying to force a stubborn single-humped dromedary down an elevator on the 44th floor.

The former prime minister apparently commandeered the animal earlier in the day, where it was tied to a desert scrub bush on the edge of town.
“Hey, that’s my camel,” the owner said, according to a local herder.
It was clear that Thaksin is not adept at riding a camel, local witnesses say. Desert travel experts say his Armani suits and Ferragamo shoes “are not cut out” for the 1,964 kilometer journey to Djibouti, where he is rumored to be heading. He is not believed to have joined a caravan.
Interpol have requested that anyone with information regarding suspicious activity in the area contact their local Bedouin leader.
The fugitive former premier is believed to be traveling with heaps of cash, and, in an apparent attempt to elude Interpol, may be wearing a swirly-square-face mask.
The camel may or may not be wearing sunglasses.
