BANGKOK — Bus services were delayed by about two minutes Wednesday as approximately 40 members of the anti-government UDD took over a covered bus bench at the corner of Sukhumvit and soi 43, demanding the resignation of the Democrat-led coalition. Claiming that the government was the product of an illegal coup, the protestors’ leader, who declined to be named, threatened to shut down the city’s transport system until democracy was restored to Thailand. Witnesses report that seven passengers waiting for the number 44 bus and three who were waiting for the number 38 bus were forced to walk twenty meters down the road, where their respective buses picked them up within fifteen minutes. The protestors said they were considering seizing a motorcycle taxi stand next.
