PHNOM PENH — According to a newly released report from the Aek Phnum Institute for Global South Asian Studies, the Cambodian economy is projected to become 100% scam parks by early 2026, after successfully eliminating all remaining non-scam-related activity. The report outlines how the country’s formerly diverse economic sectors have been quietly absorbed into a single, vertically integrated fraud ecosystem. “When you really look at the data, everything feeds the scam parks now,” said Sophea Chenda, 46, a Phnom Penh taxi driver who read all 446 pages of the report between fares. “Trees logged from the rain forest become planks for doors to keep the slaves in their locked rooms at night. Foodpanda drivers are delivering orders to guards working twelve-hour shifts at the heavily-fortified gates into the compounds. Tourists only come here to say they’ve seen a real scam park, and then take a selfie with a trafficked victim before posting to their insta. Sophea then confided that even she was a part of the scam park economy. “I pick up people being trafficked from outside the country at the airport, and drive them to scam parks in Poi Pet. There’s literally no job left in this country that isn’t connected to the Prince Group, or one of the other scam centers.” At press time, by reading this article every reader was confirmed to have generated revenue for a scam park.
