BANGKOK – Serving as the first target of new red shirt policies, Dr Weng Thipirat has been removed from the group’s leadership for wearing glasses.

According to fellow leader Jatuporn Prompan, any red shirt who wears glasses, speaks foreign languages, previously worked for the government, or has a university degree will be purged from the movement like Weng.

“We hereby disavow Dr. Weng Thipirat as a leader or rank-and-file member of the UDD,” said Jatuporn Prompan last night. “His bourgeois intellectualism clearly brands him as an ammat out of touch with the UDD’s goal of creating a prai republic.”

Dr. Weng has reportedly not been seen since last Friday when witnesses saw several red shirt bodyguards escorting him into a latrine, which was later vigorously scrubbed down.
