Rich Thai Girl Totally Not Wearing Zara Anymore

Stylish socialite insists Spanish brand is no longer sufficiently exclusive

BANGKOK – In a dramatic renouncement of a previous position, socialite Araya Prapasbyoon has announced a complete and permanent embargo of the Zara brand. Araya, a 26-year old client services executive at Grey Advertising and part-owner of the ZZ Pub bar, made the statement to her shopping companions while at the Emporium on Saturday. “Zara is totally middle-class,” she said, in response to a friend’s suggestion that they have a look at the offerings of the Midnight Sale inside. “It’s not exclusive at all anymore. I mean everyone’s wearing it now – even Dao in Finance and Rose in Human Resources.” The position is even more startling given Araya’s fervent championship of the brand in 2004, when she returned from a European holiday with her family carrying no fewer than 28 Zara items acquired in Madrid. “That was before,” she explained. When pressed, she added, “Before they opened the store here and, you know, regular people started wearing it.”
